EDGE Audio EDP122SPL-E3 Subwoofer: A Powerful Upgrade

EDGE Audio EDP122SPL-E3 Subwoofer: A Powerful Upgrade

The infamous EDP122SPL-E6 has been succeeded by the new EDP122SPL-E3, a subwoofer that continues EDGE's legacy of delivering powerful bass and high-performance audio. The EDP122SPL-E3 builds on the reputation of its predecessor, maintaining the deep, hard-hitting bass and impressive SPL (sound pressure level) output that made the E6 model a favourite among car audio enthusiasts.

As part of the 'Street' performance range, this subwoofer sits comfortably in the mid-tier of EDGE's product lineup, offering an impressive balance between performance and affordability. Despite its budget-friendly price, it holds its own against more expensive competitors and delivers a competitive edge when used by skilled installers.

Key Features:

Enhanced Performance: The EDP122SPL-E3 maintains the powerful performance of its predecessor (The infamous EDP122SPL-E6), offering deep, impactful bass and handle high volumes with ease.

New Design: The subwoofer features a one-piece dust cap and an updated logo, giving it a fresh and modern look and improved branding for the installation.
Robust Construction: Built with durable street bass centric materials like a non-pressed paper cone, wide roll foam surround, and black polycotton spiders, the EDP122SPL-E3 is designed to withstand the rigors of high-power audio.
Powerful Magnet: The dual stack Y35 ferrite magnets provide a strong magnetic field, ensuring efficient cone movement and deep bass frequencies.
Advanced Design: The subwoofer incorporates a large voice coil and X-Mech design for improved efficiency and reduced distortion.

Enclosure Recommendations:

For optimal performance (35Hz-40Hz), an enclosure of approximately 2.5 to 3 cubic feet is recommended. However, the ideal enclosure size may vary depending on factors like desired tuning frequency and personal preferences.

Here in the UK we like these subwoofers tuned a little lower (29Hz) and use a fairly large bass reflex enclosure with a slot port. Here's a Design idea
